In order to improve our pupil’s attendance. Staindrop Primary School have opted to introduce new Formal Attendance Procedures which change the way parents with poor attendance are dealt with. This is in accordance with a Department for Children, Families and Schools initiative that has resulted in a greater consistency in legal action being taken against the parents of non-attending children, and is linked with the ‘Anti-Social Behaviour Bill’ (January 2003).
All absences must be reported to the school on the first day of absence and before 9 o’clock. You can ring, Email or send a letter to the office. If your child is absent for more than one day you must inform the school every couple of days. Any child that arrives to school after 9 o’clock must come to the main door and sign the’ late book’. Attendance policies are now extremely strict and all codes must be entered on the registers on a daily basis and have to be accurate and up to date.
Can I take this opportunity to remind all parents that holidays should not be taken in term time as it can be disruptive both to your child and the school. Holidays in term time can only be agreed to the Head Teacher but all requests must be addressed to the school office for the attention of Mrs Tait. A school can only agree to no more than 10 school days’ absence in any school year in exceptional circumstances. You should discuss proposed holidays with the school before you book them. |
