Welcome to Year 6
*General Class Information*
As we have now developed our ‘classroom community’ using Class Dojo and are finding this a successful means of communication between home and school, this Class 6 webpage won’t be updated as regularly as it may have been previously.
We are enjoying using Class Dojo to share children’s successes, homework, general updates and communicate with parents/carers at home, and hope you are finding it as useful as we are. If you require any support in using Class Dojo, please do not hesitate to contact me at l.davidson200@durhamlearning.net 🙂
Please continue to look out for your termly newsletter and a welcome message at the beginning of each term here on the class page.

Hello everyone! We are so excited to welcome you back to school on Wednesday September the 2nd. We have been busy preparing school so that you can all stay safe when you are here. You’ll be pleased to know that although some things may be a little different that school will be the same warm and welcoming place it always has been. Hopefully the information below will help answer any questions that you might have.
What will school look like?
Below are some photos of our classroom so that you can see what it is going to look like. The desks are in rows but other than that it looks similar to how it did last year. We have created a new reading corner and have display boards ready to fill with all your wonderful work.

- Our magical bookcase is full of books for you to dive into!
Where do I come into school?
When you arrive next Wednesday ( anytime between 8.45- 9.15), you will be dropped off by an adult at the Year 6 wooden Gate, where a member of staff will meet you with a smile. You can then come straight into the Year 6 classroom through the external door. When you come in through the door, there will be some hand gel to use. I have laid out trays on the desk so you will know where to sit and. Once in school, we will show you where your coat peg is.

What should I bring?
You are coming back to school in comfy leggings/jogging bottoms and trainers everyday which means we can do outdoor learning and PE whenever we can.
On most days, you don’t need to bring in anything other than a water bottle & a packed lunch (if you have one). We have prepared stationery packs and equipment for each of you. For now, you will get a school reading book to keep here and we will also give you a home reading book to keep at home.
Homework will be similar to usual with spellings, reading, timetables rockstars and topic challenges, and we will tell you about this in more detail next week.
What will we be learning about?
We have lots of lovely work planned this term. But first, we are starting with a beautiful book called ‘The boy, the mole, the fox and the Horse’. This book is full of inspiring messages to help support all of us with our return to school. We have already created a display ready for all your brilliant work to be added to. We will also be doing some Maths and English each day as normal and then we will be starting our new topic about The Industrial Revolution! Don’t worry if you feel like you have forgotten things while we have been off school. We will support you with your learning as much as possible and will help you with anything that you find hard or need support with.

Please try not to worry about coming back. It may feel a little strange to start with, but remember we are all in the same position. Everyone will probably be feeling a little nervous to start with. We will be in the classroom ready for when you arrive to reassure you and make sure that you are all ok.
We can’t wait to see you all,
Miss D, Mrs Fox and Miss Dunstall
