Staindrop CE Primary School is a leading Eco School with Solar Panels that generate clean, green renewable electricity. Funding was obtained from The Co-Operative Social Goals. The Co-Op is one of the leading businesses in taking practical steps to combat climate change and a large supporter of renewable energy programmes.

The children watch the panel in our main school to see how much electricity we generate.

Our Eco Council are always thinking of ways to make our school even greener.

Our Walk to School Campaign also supports our ethical views on Carbon Emissions.

Please download the draft Corporate Approach to Sustainable Schools Strategy from the button below. This document has been produced by a range of stakeholders from across Durham County Council engaged in supporting schools. DCC are keen to gain feedback from all parts of the school community, particularly pupils and parents. DCC would like feedback particularly on the proposed ‘Durham Promise’ on page 5. This is fundamental to the strategy and how the local authority will take forward its support for schools on the broad area of sustainable development. DCC hope that through this work the authority will be able to provide a more coherent and comprehensive range of support that schools want.
