I live in a village near Staindrop with my wife Clare and 3 children, aged 16-7 years of age. Our youngest child is currently in Year 3 at Staindrop Primary. Our older children have moved up to Staindrop Comprehensive. I am employed as a Police Officer with Durham Constabulary, currently serving in Darlington.
I have been a Primary School Governor for over 8 years at two local schools. Initially I underwent around 7 modules of Governor training in areas such as Safeguarding, Recruitment, Monitoring Performance and Financial Management. For the last 4 years I have had the privilege of being a Governor at Staindrop Primary School. During that time I have undertaken roles such as Chair of The Finance Committee and Vice Chair of the main Governing Body.
I became the chair of Governors at Staindrop Primary School in March 2016. My role is to oversee the main strategic decisions taken by the Head Teacher and Governing Body. Both have distinct and specific roles in a partnership intended to ensure that the school is managed effectively. The main priority is to manage all of the School’s resources to secure the best outcomes for all of our children. I will strive to ensure that the Governing Body will do this robustly by regulating, challenging and supporting the school as appropriate.
As Chair of Governors I am fully committed to ensuring that the current Leadership Team and staff do their utmost for the school and our children; whilst planning effectively for challenges that may arise in the future. I look forward to supporting Staff, pupils and parents over the coming years.
